Perplexity is strongest when the first question is: what does the evidence say?
It is particularly useful when the work starts with finding current information rather than analysing material you already have.
Perplexity is built around research. Ask a question and the answer arrives with inline citations, so you can see where each claim comes from and open the sources that matter. That makes it a quick way to get oriented on an unfamiliar topic, a company or a market, especially when recency matters. The citations are a starting point, not proof: open the sources and check that they say what the answer claims. Once the research is collected, the harder part is often synthesis, writing or sustained reasoning across the material, and Claude or ChatGPT may be the better tool for that stage. Research depth, file uploads and model choice vary by plan.
The overall Guide Rating reflects these six scores, rounded to one decimal place.
