ChatGPT is the strongest default when you want one AI assistant to cover a lot of different jobs.
Its advantage is breadth. Writing, research, files, images, data analysis and voice can all live inside the same product, which makes it an easy place to start when the work changes from day to day.
ChatGPT is rarely the wrong place to start. It suits people who don’t want to choose a specialist tool before every task: draft an email, check a current fact, analyse a spreadsheet, create an image and talk an idea through, all in one product. Projects keep related chats and files together for work you come back to. That breadth is also the trade-off. For long, careful document work, Claude is often the stronger starting point. For source-led research, Perplexity offers a more focused workflow. For sustained work inside a codebase, a coding environment such as Cursor is usually more efficient. Features and limits vary by plan, so what you can use depends on your account.
The overall Guide Rating reflects these six scores, rounded to one decimal place.
